Why would I set a parent/child relationship between customers?
The parent/child relationship - or known as sub-customer relationship - between customers may be required to consolidate credit lines and/or consolidate invoices.
Am I eligible to utilize the set parent customer functionality?
If you are connected to an external accounting software, such as Quickbooks Online or Oracle NetSuite, you may be eligible to leverage the automated sub-customer feature. Please visit the correspondent article for more information:
If you are not connected to an external accounting software, and you still want to leverage the manual Set Parent Customer functionality via the Resolve dashboard, please contact your account manager to check your eligibility.
You can still leverage the manual Set Parent Customer functionality via the Resolve dashboard, even when connected to an Accounting software. In this situation, the sub-customer (assigned manually in Resolve) would have it's ERP invoices assigned automatically to the parent customer when synced.
How to setup the parent/child relationship between customers via Resolve dashboard?
If you have checked with your account manager for your account eligibility, and you have been enabled to leverage this feature, please follow the steps below to set a parent/child relationsip between customers:
- Go to Customers tab and click on the selected customer.
- Once on the View Customer page, click on the Actions button and click on Set Parent Customer.
- Select the Customer you want to set as a parent for the current customer.
- Once you confirm, the system will re-assign the invoices to the parent customer, and archive the current customer.
- If the current (and now archived) customer is linked to an accounting software, the following syncs will automatically re-assign the invoices to the parent customer.
